Video Translator: Subtitles in Another Language
Turn the speech in a video into subtitles in another language: AI writes the subtitles, translates every line and keeps it in time with the voice. Download an SRT file or a video with the subtitles drawn in. Free, no sign-up.
Your video never leaves your device. How?
In Accurate mode only the audio is sent to our server to be transcribed, then deleted. Choose "On this device" in the settings and nothing is uploaded.
Select or drop a video or audio file
MP4, WebM, MOV, MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG. Your video stays on your device.

Make the video with the translated subtitles drawn in, or download them as an SRT or VTT file for YouTube, VLC or an editor.
When a translated video helps
A lecture, an interview or a tutorial in a language you don't speak; a family video for relatives who speak another language; your own Reel or YouTube video for viewers in another country. Subtitles are the quickest way: no new voice to record, and viewers still hear the original.
Translating a whole video's subtitles at once keeps sentences that run over two lines making sense, and names stay the same from line to line.
How the translation is made
First the video's own subtitles are written: in Accurate mode (the default) your browser takes the audio out of the video and sends only that audio to be transcribed by Whisper large-v3-turbo, with each line's timing. Nothing is kept. Choose On this device and the speech is recognised in your browser instead.
Then the subtitle lines, and only their text, are translated by an AI language model, a whole video at a time so each line is translated with the lines around it in mind. Every line keeps its timing, so the translated subtitles stay in sync. The text isn't stored.
The video itself never leaves your device: the subtitles are drawn onto it in your browser, or you download them as an SRT or VTT file.

Subtitles here, dubbing too
The speech is translated into subtitles you can read, timed to the voice, and the original voice stays as it is. To hear it spoken in the new language, use AI Dubbing.
Edit before you download
AI translation can get a name or an idiom wrong. Every line can be fixed before you make the video or download the file.
Your video stays private

Frequently asked questions
Which languages can I translate a video into?
English, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Indonesian, Turkish, Vietnamese, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu. The speech in the video can be in any of the 99 languages Whisper understands, from Arabic to Vietnamese.
Does it dub the video with a new voice?
No. It makes translated subtitles, timed to the original speech. The original voice stays.
How accurate is the translation?
Good enough to follow a video, and usually natural, but AI can get a name, slang or an idiom wrong. Read the lines and fix any you need before you download.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Only the audio is sent to be transcribed and only the subtitle text to be translated, and neither is kept. Making the video with subtitles happens on your device.

Is it free?
Yes, with no sign-up and no watermark. Translation is free with fair use: a day's allowance covers about 15 videos of 10 minutes.
