FFmpeg in WebAssembly reads the video's first audio track and encodes it as MP3. The picture is skipped completely, so the video codec (H.264, HEVC, VP9, AV1 or anything else) doesn't matter and the job finishes quickly.
The video is read in pieces rather than loaded into memory, so large recordings work: up to 4 GB and 4 hours on a computer, or 2 GB and 2 hours on a phone.

No. The tool converts video files that are already on your device. It doesn't download from websites.
192 kbps (High) sounds transparent for most music and is the default. 128 kbps is plenty for speech such as lectures and voice notes. 320 kbps only helps if the source audio is already high quality; it cannot add detail that isn't there.

Most MP4 and MOV videos already contain AAC audio. Choosing M4A with Original quality copies it without re-encoding, which is faster and lossless. Choose MP3 when the file must play everywhere.
