MOV is Apple's QuickTime format. iPhones record video as MOV, and Mac screen recordings (Shift-Command-5) and QuickTime Player also save MOV. Windows, Android and many web forms handle MOV poorly, and an MP3 is far smaller when you only need what was said or played.
iPhone videos are often large: a minute of 4K video can be several hundred megabytes. This tool reads the MOV in pieces instead of loading it into memory, so recordings up to 4 GB work on a computer. The audio in iPhone MOV files is AAC, so if you only need it on Apple devices, M4A in the Audio Converter keeps it slightly closer to the original.
FFmpeg in WebAssembly reads the first audio track from the MOV and encodes it as MP3. The video, whether H.264 or HEVC, is skipped entirely, so the video codec doesn't matter.
Screen recordings made without a microphone have no audio track; the tool will tell you if there is nothing to convert.

192 kbps (High) sounds transparent for most music and is the default. 128 kbps is plenty for speech such as lectures and voice notes. 320 kbps only helps if the source audio is already high quality; it cannot add detail that isn't there.
