FLAC is lossless: it keeps every detail of a CD or studio master, but a single album can take 300 to 500 MB. Many car stereos, older iPods and MP3 players, and apps like iTunes and Apple Music don't play FLAC at all.
A 320 kbps MP3 made from a FLAC is about a third of the size and sounds identical to nearly everyone. Keep the FLAC as your archive and put the MP3 on devices.
FFmpeg in WebAssembly decodes the FLAC and encodes it with the LAME MP3 encoder. Text tags such as title, artist and album are copied. Embedded cover art is not copied.
Hi-res FLAC files (24-bit, 96 or 192 kHz) work too; MP3 supports up to 48 kHz, so they are converted down, which makes no audible difference.

Almost nobody can in blind tests on ordinary equipment. Keep the FLAC if you want a perfect archive or plan to convert again later.
Text tags are copied, but embedded cover art isn't. Most players fetch the artwork again from the album tags.
