Clip Utils (www.cliputils.com) is run by Ojas Sharma, India. The short version: the files you process stay on your device. The one exception is Auto Subtitles' Accurate mode, which sends only the audio to be transcribed and keeps nothing. We count anonymous usage to improve the tools, and we never see your files or their names.
Your files
Every tool processes your video, audio and images inside your browser, on your own device. Your files are not uploaded to our servers, and we have no copy of them or of the results. The one exception is Accurate mode in Auto Subtitles, described below.
To do this, your browser downloads the tools' engines and AI models from this site (and, for the Vocal Remover only if that download fails, from huggingface.co). Your browser may keep them so later visits are faster. You can remove them by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
If we ever offer another option that processes a file on our servers, it will be clearly marked before you use it, your file will be used only to produce your result, and it will be deleted afterwards.
Accurate mode in Auto Subtitles
Accurate mode (the default in Auto Subtitles) turns speech into subtitles on a server. Your browser takes the audio out of your video and sends only that compressed audio, never the video, to our server, which passes it to Groqfor speech recognition and returns the subtitles. When Groq is busy, and for ClipUtils Pro's long videos, the same speech recognition model is run by DeepInfra instead. Groq's data retention is turned off for our account, and DeepInfra keeps audio only in memory while transcribing it and doesn't log or store it, so neither stores the audio or the text, and we don't store them either. The subtitles exist only in your browser.
Accurate mode is free up to a daily limit. To count it, we keep a code made from your IP address, a secret and the date (not the address itself), which changes every day and is deleted after two days, plus the total seconds of audio transcribed. If you choose "On this device" instead, nothing is uploaded and nothing is counted.
Emphasis in animated captions
When you turn on Emphasis (key words pop, with an emoji), the text of your caption lines, and nothing else, is sent through our server to Groq, whose AI picks the key words. Groq's data retention is turned off for our account and we don't store the text. A daily limit is counted the same way as for Accurate mode (a daily code, not your address). Until the answer comes back, and if the limit is reached, the key words are picked on your device instead.
Video Translator
When subtitles are translated, only their text (never the audio or the video) is sent through our server to Groq, whose AI translates it, or, when Groq is busy, to DeepInfra. Groq's data retention is turned off for our account, DeepInfra doesn't log or store it, and we don't store the text. A daily limit is counted the same way as for Accurate mode (a daily code, not your address).
AI Video Editor
To decide what to cut, the words of your video's subtitles and the moment each one is said, and nothing else (never the audio or the video), are sent through our server to Claude, an AI by Anthropic. Anthropic doesn't train its models on what we send and keeps it only for a limited time for safety checks; we don't store the text. The video itself is cut in your browser. A daily limit on edits is counted the same way as for Accurate mode (a daily code, not your address), along with the day's total use of the AI.
Usage statistics we collect
To see which tools work and where they fail, we count anonymous events:
- which tool was used, and whether a run started, finished, failed (with a short error code) or was cancelled;
- in Auto Subtitles, which mode was used (Accurate mode or On this device) and how an Accurate mode run ended;
- coarse measurements only: how long a run took (e.g. "30 s to 2 min"), the file's size range (e.g. "5 to 25 MB"), what kind of file was downloaded (e.g. "video"), and the device type (phone or computer, memory range, whether WebGPU is available);
- the site or app you came from (e.g. a search engine) and your country, worked out from your connection by our hosting provider. We don't store your IP address;
- answers you choose to give in on-page surveys;
- ClipUtils Pro steps, such as the Pro offer being shown, checkout being opened or Pro being turned on.
These counts are not linked to you, your files or any account. File names and contents are never sent.
Analytics and hosting services
- Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used (clicks, scrolling and page views, as session recordings and heatmaps) so we can find and fix problems. It uses cookies. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- Vercel Analytics counts page views without cookies. See Vercel's privacy policy.
- Vercel hosts the site and Cloudflare delivers it. Like any website, they process your IP address and browser details to serve pages and protect the site.
Payments and ClipUtils Pro
ClipUtils Pro is sold through Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record and processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. We can see your order details in Dodo's dashboard (such as your email, country and what you bought) but never your card details.
Your Pro key is kept in your browser's storage. To check that your Pro is still active (at most twice a day), the site sends the key and a device label such as "Chrome on Windows" to Dodo Payments through our server. Right after a payment, our server keeps the payment ID and Pro key for up to 7 days so the browser you paid in can turn Pro on.
Cookies and storage on your device
The site stores your tool settings (for example a chosen output format), whether you've already answered a survey, how many free animated-caption videos you've made today, your Pro key if you have one, and cached engines and models in your browser's storage. These stay on your device. Clarity sets its own cookies, described above.
Your choices and rights
You can block cookies or clear this site's data in your browser at any time; the tools keep working. To ask about or delete any data connected to a purchase, or for any other privacy question, email 2004ojassharma@gmail.com.
The site is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
