Extract Audio from Video
Pull the audio track from any video and download it as MP3 or WAV. Everything runs in your browser — your video is never uploaded. No signup, no watermark, no limits.
Your media is processed in your browser and is not uploaded to our servers for conversion. Page assets (including the converter engine) still load over the network.

How to extract audio from a video
Select a video
Drop or choose a video file such as MP4, WebM, or MOV from your device.
Pick an output format
Choose MP3 for a small, universally compatible audio file, or WAV for lossless quality.
Click Extract Audio
Extraction runs locally in your browser using WebAssembly. Short clips finish in seconds.
Download the audio
Preview the extracted audio and download it. The original video is untouched.
How audio extraction works
This tool uses FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly to demux (separate) the audio stream from your video file. For MP3 output, the audio is re-encoded to MP3 format. For WAV output, the raw audio is decoded and saved as an uncompressed WAV file.
Because audio files are much smaller than video files, extraction is fast even on slower devices. The video track is discarded entirely — only the audio is kept.
Audio extractor features
No upload required
Audio extraction runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly-based media processing. Your video files never leave your device.
MP3 and WAV output
Choose MP3 for small, shareable audio files or WAV for lossless quality. MP3 is ideal for podcasts, music, and sharing; WAV preserves every detail.
Works with common video formats
Supports MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, MKV, and other formats that the browser-based FFmpeg build can decode.
Fast extraction
Audio extraction is much faster than video compression because only the audio stream needs processing. Most clips finish in a few seconds.
Frequently asked questions
Can I extract audio from a video without uploading it?
Yes. This tool processes your video entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your file never leaves your device — nothing is uploaded to any server.
What audio formats can I extract to?
You can extract audio as MP3 (compressed, small file size, universally compatible) or WAV (lossless, larger file, full quality).
What video formats are supported?
Common formats like MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, and MKV typically work. Support depends on the browser-based FFmpeg build. If a file fails, try converting it to MP4 first.
Is the audio quality preserved?
WAV output preserves the full decoded audio quality. MP3 re-encodes the audio at 192 kbps, which is high quality for most uses. Neither format is a lossless copy of the original compressed stream.
Can I extract audio from a YouTube video?
This tool works with video files on your device, not URLs. You would need to first download the video file, then use this tool to extract the audio.
How long does extraction take?
Audio extraction is fast — usually a few seconds for a typical video. It is much faster than video compression because only the audio stream needs to be processed.
