Translate Video to English

Get English subtitles for a video in another language: AI writes down what's said, translates every line into English and keeps it in time with the voice. Watch it with the subtitles drawn in, or download an SRT. Free, no sign-up.

Your video never leaves your device. How?

In Accurate mode only the audio is sent to our server to be transcribed, then deleted. Choose "On this device" in the settings and nothing is uploaded.

Select or drop a video or audio file

MP4, WebM, MOV, MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG. Your video stays on your device.

English subtitles for a video you can't follow

A class or lecture recorded in another language, an interview, a news clip, a voice message or a family video: English subtitles let you follow it without waiting for someone to translate it by hand.

It also works the other way round: if you make videos in Hindi, Spanish or Arabic, English subtitles let viewers anywhere follow along, which matters on YouTube, LinkedIn and Reels.

How the translation is made

First the video's own subtitles are written: in Accurate mode (the default) your browser takes the audio out of the video and sends only that audio to be transcribed by Whisper large-v3-turbo, with each line's timing. Nothing is kept. Choose On this device and the speech is recognised in your browser instead.

Then the subtitle lines, and only their text, are translated by an AI language model, a whole video at a time so each line is translated with the lines around it in mind. Every line keeps its timing, so the translated subtitles stay in sync. The text isn't stored.

The video itself never leaves your device: the subtitles are drawn onto it in your browser, or you download them as an SRT or VTT file.

Features

Any spoken language

Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, French, Korean, Japanese, Turkish and 90 more are recognised, then translated into English.

Timed to the speech

Each English line appears while its words are being said, so the subtitles stay in sync from start to end.

Subtitles here, dubbing too

The speech is translated into subtitles you can read, timed to the voice, and the original voice stays as it is. To hear it spoken in the new language, use AI Dubbing.

Edit before you download

AI translation can get a name or an idiom wrong. Every line can be fixed before you make the video or download the file.

Your video stays private

Only the audio is sent to be transcribed and only the text to be translated; neither is kept. The video never leaves your device.

Free, no sign-up

No account, no watermark. Free with fair use: a day's translations cover about 15 ten-minute videos.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get English subtitles for a video in another language?

Choose the video on this page and press Generate. The subtitles are written in the spoken language, then translated into English line by line, each keeping its timing. Download the SRT or make a video with the English subtitles drawn in.

Can I translate a Hindi video to English?

Yes. Hindi speech is recognised and the subtitles are translated into English. Names and terms are kept; check them before downloading.

Can I use the subtitles in VLC or on YouTube?

Yes. The SRT file works in VLC, MX Player, YouTube Studio, Premiere and CapCut. Keep the file next to the video with the same name and VLC loads it.

What if the video is already in English?

Then the subtitles stay as they were spoken: there's nothing to translate.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Only the audio is sent to be transcribed and only the text to be translated, and neither is kept.

How long can the video be?

Videos up to an hour are transcribed in Accurate mode, in a minute or two; longer ones on your device (slower), or in Accurate mode with ClipUtils Pro, up to 2 hours.
