Remove Music from an Instagram Reel (Keep Your Voice)
Take the background song out of your own Reel and keep what you said. It runs in your phone's browser: no app, no upload, no watermark.
Your file never leaves your device. How?
Your media is processed in your browser and is not uploaded to our servers for conversion. Page assets (including the converter engine) still load over the network.
Select or drop a video
MP4, MOV, WebM or a sound file. The music is removed on your device: nothing is uploaded.
Click, tap, or drop a fileHow to remove the music from a Reel
Save your Reel's video
Use the video from your camera roll or your Reel drafts (Instagram lets you save your own Reel to your phone).
Let the model download once
The first time, about 43 MB downloads and is saved in your browser for next time.
Remove the music
Choose the video here and tap Remove the music. Keep the tab open: a 30-second Reel takes about as long on a recent phone.
Post it with new audio
Download the video without music, upload it to Instagram, and add a song from Instagram's own library at a low volume under your voice.
Why people take the song out of a Reel
A Reel filmed with a song playing, or edited with trending audio, carries that song everywhere: Instagram's own "remove audio" takes your voice away with it. Separating the voice from the music lets you repost the Reel with a different sound, reuse your talking parts in a new edit, or post it where the song isn't licensed.
Use your own Reels. This tool doesn't download from Instagram; it works on the video file on your phone.
How it works
An MDX-Net model (from the open-source Ultimate Vocal Remover project) runs in your browser and splits the Reel's sound into the voice and everything else. The voice is put back in the video with FFmpeg: the picture is copied as it is, so it loses no quality.
Speech over music separates cleanly. Singing counts as voice, and sound effects go with the music. A voice buried in very loud music can keep a little of it.
Features
Your voice kept
Only the music goes; what you said stays, in time with the picture.
On your phone
Runs in Safari or Chrome on your phone: nothing to install, nothing uploaded.
Same quality
The picture is copied as it is, so the Reel doesn't get blurrier.
Music Mixer (Pro)
Turn the music down instead of off, let it dip whenever someone speaks, or put your own track under the voice, heard live as the video plays. Your first mix is free.
Frequently asked questions
Is my video uploaded?
No. Only the AI model is downloaded, once, from this site. The voice is separated from the music in your browser and the new video is made on your device.
Can I remove the music from someone else's Reel?
This works on video files on your device, not Instagram links. Use Reels you made: re-posting someone else's video, with or without its music, needs their permission.
Will Instagram still mute my Reel?
If the song is gone, there's nothing of it left to match, in most cases. Instagram can still match a song that's barely audible, so add music from Instagram's own library rather than another copyrighted track.
My voice sounds quiet afterwards. What can I do?
Raise the voice with the Music Mixer's Voice slider (Pro), or run the result through Increase Volume. In Instagram, keep the music you add low.
Does it work on an iPhone?
Yes, in Safari or Chrome. Keep the tab open while it works. Reels up to 6 minutes work on a phone.
