How the Portuguese voice is made
The voices come from Kokoro, an open-source AI speech model that's free to use, even commercially. Your text is turned into the sounds of Brazilian Portuguese by eSpeak NG, sentence by sentence, and the model speaks them in the voice you picked. Numbers are read in Portuguese.
On a computer it all runs in your browser, with nothing uploaded; the model (about 92 MB) downloads once from Hugging Face and is kept, so the next time it starts in seconds. On phones, the same voice is made on our server in seconds (through DeepInfra), and your text isn't kept.

Is this Portuguese text to speech free?

Is it Brazilian or European Portuguese?
Brazilian: both voices speak with a Brazilian accent. Text written the European way is read fine, in the Brazilian accent.
